Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes is a story about the two men who fall in love with each other despite having their own respective wives. Two devoted wives combined forces to make sure that their husbands will never be happy for choosing each other over them. It is a gender-sensitive Filipino film. In the trailer they showed us how the two Mrs. Reyes are bent on revenge, but the movie gives you surprises along the way. It keeps your interest until the end of the story.
It’s Judy Ann’s comeback project plus the brilliant skills of Angelica, JC and Joross when it comes to acting. It also show the best chemistry of Angelica and JC in both drama and comedy.
It’s a very well-written script that focuses on what they really wanted to tell us. The message is very clear. It shows the problem of deceit and infidelity, the worst and the best of us when we’re in love, the acceptance and finding the true meaning of love.
There are strong moments when the pain and anger will affect people. Especially the scenes between Lianne (Judy Ann Santos) and Cindy (Angelica Panganiban). You can really feel what they were feeling during those moments of grief. Confrontations and punch lines were delivered successfully. The comedic parts were not boring and not corny at all. While the affair of the two Mr. Reyes, Gary (Joross Gamboa) and Felix (JD De Vera) seemed so real. The roles of Joross and JC simply represent the imperfect human beings whose capacity for love puts them into the most complicated situations. Not because of their sexual orientation but because they are married to other people.
The film teaches us true love and genuine forgiveness with deeper insight on accepting human condition.
It is an excellent film written by Direk Jun Lana and Elmer Gatchalian.
